Sophie is a rising Junior at the University of Vermont (UVM) studying Mechanical Engineering. She has an exceptional entrepreneurial, innovative, and inventive spirit that has been a huge asset to the Foundation where she has interned this summer. Sophie’s interest in The Avielle Foundation lies not only in the understanding that scientific exploration of the brain will serve to build bridges between the neurosciences and behavioral sciences, but also in a keen desire to be part of the change she wants to see in the world. In addition to her work with TAF, Sophie works as a teaching assistant in computer science and has worked as a farm hand, has served as a service trip work-site leader, a Women in Science and Engineering Program counselor, and was the Head of School her senior year at Westover High School. In her spare time Sophie likes to stay physically fit hiking and running Tough Mudders.
